Notifications & sounds

When the monitor finds a match, Refresh Pilot can pop a desktop notification, play a sound that keeps ringing until you stop it, and flip the toolbar badge to a green YES. All of it lives in the Monitor tab's Alerts section.

The desktop notification: one click on "Show tab" and you're on the page, sound silenced.

Desktop notifications FREE

On by default. The notification names the keyword and the page, and carries two buttons:

Show tab — jumps straight to the matching tab and brings its window to the front.
Dismiss — clears the notification.

Clicking either button also stops any alert sound that's playing.

Sounds

The sound alert is off by default — turn it on when a silent notification isn't enough (you're in another room while hunting that restock). You can choose:

Chime and Beacon — two bundled sounds. FREE
Custom URL… — paste a link to your own sound file. PRO

Volume — a slider from 0 to 1, default 0.7.
Play once FREE vs Loop until stopped PRO — looping turns the alert into a real alarm that rings until you silence it.
▶ Test — plays the chosen sound once so you can check the volume before you need it.

Why the sound survives page reloads

The audio doesn't play inside the watched page — it plays in a tiny invisible audio page that the extension keeps in the background. So even when the tab refreshes or navigates away a split second after the match, the alarm keeps ringing until you stop it.

Every one of these alert settings — the sound (Never, Chime, Beacon, or a custom URL, each with a preview-play button), the volume slider, play once vs loop until dismissed, the desktop notification, and the webhook and email alerts — also lives on the dashboard's Notification Settings page (under Extension Settings). These are the same settings the Page Monitor uses, so changing them in either place changes them everywhere.

Stopping the alarm

Kill alarm — one keystroke silences every alert sound, from any tab.

Three ways to make it stop:

press Alt+Shift+K — the Kill alarm shortcut;
right-click the Refresh Pilot toolbar icon and choose "Kill alarm sound";
click Show tab or Dismiss on the notification itself.

The toolbar badge

On a match, the little badge on the Refresh Pilot toolbar icon turns into a green YES — and stays that way until you next start or stop a job. Handy when you stepped away with the sound off: one glance at the toolbar tells you whether anything happened. ℹ️ Remember the throttle from monitor basics: alerts fire at most once every 20 seconds per watched page, so a persistent keyword won't spam you.
