30 seconds tracks a live match closely. 1–2 minutes suits a full slate of games. Hard refresh if the site shows old numbers.
Watch for the moment (optional)
Keywords like "GOAL" or your player's name, or a Watch Zone on your fantasy total — get pinged only when the number moves.
Keep the countdown visible
The on-page timer shows exactly how old the score is — readable from the couch.

Big-league sites stream scores live, but fantasy points, lower-division results and college stats often update only on reload. Pressing F5 every thirty seconds for three hours is nobody's idea of watching sports — and score apps spoil every other game while you do it.

Can I get an alert only when the score changes?
Yes — draw a Watch Zone around the score itself. The clock and stats change constantly, so the zone is what keeps alerts meaningful.
Does this work on a TV browser for a wall scoreboard?
