It works like the spot-the-difference game. RefreshPilot takes a picture of what matters on the page (not a real photo — a clever fingerprint of the content). On the next reload, it takes another one and compares: same? Stay quiet. Different? Something new happened — ping! You never have to guess the magic words in advance.
The "smart" part is knowing what NOT to count. Pages are full of stuff that changes every single load: clocks, ads, "14 people are watching this" counters. If those counted, you'd get pinged every time. Smart detection learns to ignore that noise and only fires on real changes — a new listing appearing, a status sentence rewritten, a page flipping from "coming soon" to "BUY NOW". How does it ignore ads and clocks?
Things that change on every single reload — the signature of ads, clocks and counters — get filtered out as noise. What's left is the real content. A Watch Zone narrows it even more, to exactly the box you drew.
Keywords or change detection — which one do I want?
Know the exact words? Use keywords — sharper. Only know "it'll look different"? Use change detection. And you can combine them: a zone plus keywords for precision, a zone plus change detection to catch anything.
What if the page changes without reloading?
