Auto-stop rules — it knows when to quit

Imagine your watch finds the thing at 2 am… and then keeps reloading the page until morning, for nothing. Auto-stop rules fix that: found it? Stop. Done 100 reloads? Stop. Been 2 hours? Stop. The watch cleans up after itself.

Found it! Stopped
The watch reloads, reloads, finds your thing — ping! — and then stops itself. Job done.

How to use it — 3 easy steps

Add a stop rule

When setting up the watch, choose: stop when it matches, stop after N reloads, or stop after a time limit.

01

The watch runs normally

Reloading, checking, ready to ping — everything works as usual until the finish line arrives.

02

It stands down by itself

Match found or limit reached: reloading ends. Your ping stays the last word, and the tab is just a normal tab again.

03

01 — What it does

A refresh timer never gets tired — which is great, until the job is done and it's still going. That wastes the website's time, your computer's energy, and can re-ring the bell about a thing you already know. Auto-stop gives every watch a finish line. The best one is stop-on-match: "reload until it says In Stock, ping me, then stand down." That one sentence is the whole life of most watches.

The other two rules are for experiments with a time box: stop after a number of reloads ("give this rumour 100 tries") or after a duration ("watch this price for 2 hours, then give up"). You decide the ending at the start — so future-you doesn't have to remember a tab exists somewhere, still going, for no reason.

Why stop after the match? Maybe more will happen!

If you're waiting for ONE event — a restock, a result, a status change — everything after the match is waste, and the alert could keep re-ringing about old news. If you genuinely want to keep watching after a match (like tracking every price change), just don't add a stop rule.

When are the count and time limits useful?

When your watch is an experiment: "give this fare 2 hours", "give this drop rumour 100 reloads", "keep this queue alive until midnight". You set the ending up front instead of trusting yourself to remember.

Can I restart a stopped watch?

One click. Everything is remembered — timer, keywords, alerts — only the running stopped. Re-arm it and it's off again.
