RefreshPilot · Use case

Auto refresh for dashboards & live data

A dashboard on the wall is a promise that the numbers are current. RefreshPilot keeps that promise — reloading past every cache, on exactly the schedule your data updates.

Tableaux de bord & données en direct

A starting configuration

Interval

Match your data — e.g. every 5 minutes

Monitor

Optional keywords: "error", "session expired"

Alert

On-page timer; notification if an error appears

Every website is a little different — start with this and adjust until it feels right.

How to set it up

1

Set up the screen

Open the dashboard on the wall computer, log in, go full-screen. Each tab keeps its own schedule, so several dashboards can rotate.

2

Match the timing to the data

If the numbers update every 5 minutes, reload every 5 minutes. The custom timer takes exact hours, minutes and seconds.

3

Turn on hard refresh

This is the fix for stale charts: skip the cache and pull everything fresh from the server, so nothing can show you yesterday.

4

Show the timer, watch for errors

The on-page countdown makes freshness visible from across the room. Add keywords like "session expired" so the screen tells you when it needs a human.

01 — The problem

"Live" dashboards quietly go stale

Wall-screen tabs are where auto-updating goes to die: a connection drops overnight, a login expires, a cached chart shows yesterday's numbers — and the screen still looks fine while it lies to everyone. Nobody notices until a decision gets made on old data.

Features doing the heavy lifting

The dashboard says it auto-updates. Why add a reloader?

Built-in auto-update depends on a connection staying healthy for days. In real life, connections drop, logins expire, and charts freeze silently. A scheduled hard reload fixes the screen every few minutes, no matter what broke.

What about dashboards that log out overnight?

Add the login page's words — "Sign in", "Session expired" — as keywords. You get pinged the moment the screen needs a login, instead of it sitting on a login form until someone walks by.

Can one computer rotate several dashboards?

Yes — one tab per dashboard, each on its own schedule. With auto-start rules, the computer can even reboot overnight and come back with every watch running.

Does constant reloading overload our servers?

It's one page load per interval per screen — the same as one person glancing at the dashboard. Match the timing to how often the data really changes and you add basically nothing.
